How Is The State of Our Ocean Fisheries?
I was reading an article about how a commercial fishing moratorium, which was placed on commerical bottom fishing off the coasts of North Florida and Southern Georgia, was set to begin January 3 has been moved to June 1. The cause of the ban is a seriously depleted red snapper stock. What was once thought to be as low as 3 percent of what is needed is now said to be around 14 percent. But I wounder how they really know. I am all for commercial fishing, I love to eat seafood. But what are we doing to our oceans and are we doing enough to help sustain them for our future generations? They truly are one of the last frontiers that we don't even know jack about. You could send out a hundred missions and find new things everyone of them. I think that we really need to dedicate more research into how our fishing is impacting the worlds oceans. I got the idea for this from reading this article here. I was also doing some reading here and here.
A Real Life Godzilla Harasses Japanese Whalers..
The Sea Shepard Conservation Socity has a new toy in it's war aginst whaling. I am tottaly with the efforts to stop whaling when it is being done illegaly. The Japanese use a loophole in the ban on whaling by labeling their missions for scientific reasearch. They target non-endangerd minkies but also take some endangerd ones which make their practices even worse. The season starts in December and runs for three months where they will target 900 whales annualy. The meat is sold commercialy in Japan, yet the missions are for sicentific reasearch. Why our country has not spoken up about this matter irks me. If we put some pressure on Japan and hit where it hurts, the wallet then we could help with at leat limiting them in their practices. You can check out the article from where I got my picture and references here. http://www.grindtv.com/outdoor/blog/22423/japanese+whalers+to+face+new+enemy+in+godzilla/

Ice Age!!! Just on a smaller scale.
So I came across this article the other day, http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101127/ap_on_re_eu/eu_russia_ice_age_park, and it made me think about what we are truly doing to our world, and how some people are trying to combat it. I think this is a great idea that needs to be researched fully. Anything we can do to help slow down the thawing of our worlds tundras and help stop global warming will benefit everybody as time marches on. Now the sad part is that this will probably never see the funding that it deserves while other less important projects will get the funding that they don't deserve. What is wrong with this picture??

Could there really be an extinction day soon for wild tigers?
Have we as a society not learned that if we don't slow down and protect the things that we find majestic that we will lose them. I as hunter know the thrill of the hunt, but I also know that we have to follow regulations so that fututre generations can enjoy the hunt. It makes me sick that people don't stop and think about how their actions are gonna effect future generations for years to come..

Natural gas, is it the next big thing?
I just got done reading an article in National Geographic about the natural gas reserves in the Appalachian Mountains. I can't believe that we have the potential to be self reliant in our use of natural resources and we haven't tried to develop it. I know that there is some concern with the impact that it's gonna have on nature. And yes that needs to be studied. But to not give this serious thought is crazy. We need to be looking at this from all sides and really truly seeing if this is a viable option for our energy use. It's cleaner than coal, and more abundant than oil. we have the technology to make cars run off this. We already produce electricity with it. So why aren't we developing this more???

When will we learn???
So I just got done reading an article about how a local grocery store is recalling it's reusable bags due to lead concerns. Now this is an American based company that had these bags made for them with there logo and everything. Now if this company would have had another American company make them for them then they would never of had this problem. But that's not the American way. Lets outsource it and help some other country out and all the while we get shafted.. And from what I have seen on all the recalls the company's outsourcing everything are getting hit hard from the recalls. Are we ever gonna wake up?

This is so true..
So I was checking out articles to blog about for school. And I stumbled upon this little gem. http://www.fortunewatch.com/the-obama-tax-system-explained-in-beer/ After reading it and the comments that followed it made me stop and think about how I really feel about this myself. while I don't have a problem with those that pay more getting a bigger break. I do feel that we all are being taxed more than we should. And I would really like to see the fair tax law enacted.

School
So this is my third week of school. It's been a little daunting but I am hanging in there. I didn't realize how much work outside of class it was gonna take. And after eighteen years of being outta school studying doesn't come easy for me. But then I think about what I will gain at the end of it all and it makes it worth it. But till then I know that I am gonna have allot of high points and low points. I have a feeling it will be more low points but we shall see.

Wind sticks?
I came across an article about windstalks that generate power when the wind sets the stalks waving. They are looking into this to help eliminate bird kills from the blades of turbines, and also to help reduce the noise that they generate. Plus the stalks are more aesthetically appeasing then there counterparts. It's nice to see that people are not only trying to help our environment but also trying to improve the looks for the residents that have to live near these power plants. They are planning a to have a park inside of the windstalks field where people can walk around the stalks. And at night the stalks are to light up with led lights at the top of each stalk.

Friends
You know it's not often that you are blessed with truly great people in your life. I am fortunate enough to have two friends that truly are great. At the drop of a hat they will do anything in their power to help me and my family. It is one of the best feelings in the world to have friends such as these. What they have done to help me and my family could never be repaid. And if it could they would never let me for they do it out of the kindness in there hearts. And it's because of these two people that I have come as far as I have. I may not have all the material things others have, but I have riches that know one else can take from me. And that is the friendship of some of the kindest and giving people I have ever met.
